From Carpet Cleaning to Hurricane Recovery: 14 Years Serving One Largo Family

Barbara Nagy • April 7, 2026

When Hurricane Milton flooded their Largo condo, this customer knew who to call. We've been their restoration team since 2012, starting with carpet cleaning when they first moved in. Fourteen years later, we're tackling emergency water damage restoration after back-to-back hurricanes left water trapped under their tile floor.

The Challenge: Water Trapped Under Tile

After Milton passed through, water pooled beneath their tile flooring. The tiles couldn't be lifted without breaking, which meant controlled demolition and serious drying equipment to handle moisture trapped in the concrete slab. Water under tile is tricky. The concrete beneath needs days of industrial drying, and the process creates dust that must be contained.

Our Process: Professional Containment and Drying

Our team removed damaged tiles and set up containment barriers with HEPA air scrubbers running continuously to capture airborne particles.

Once exposed, we positioned commercial dehumidifiers and air movers to pull moisture from the slab. Concrete holds water deep in its pores, and rushing drying just creates mold problems later. According to IICRC S500 standards , proper structural drying requires daily moisture monitoring until readings confirm complete dryness.

Thorough Cleaning Protocol

After drying, we HEPA vacuumed the concrete multiple times, then the ceiling, walls, and floors inside containment. Final step was bio-wiping all surfaces with plant-based disinfectant. According to EPA mold prevention guidelines , thorough cleaning after flood damage restoration prevents mold growth and ensures safe reconstruction.

Smart Referrals for Rebuilding

We handle water mitigation and restoration, not tile installation. Our office manager recommended a skilled tile installer who prepped the dried concrete and laid beautiful new tiles matching the existing floor. This approach works because we focus on our expertise, then connect customers with trusted tradespeople for rebuilding.
